Psycho-Dynamics of the Freud Family
Lee Byung-Wook

Abstract
Freud did not think that he was a great person, and it was not simply disguised by masking manner. He said that a great discoverer need not to be great psychically. He suffered various neurotic symptoms until his father was dead, and thereafter his self analysis brought about the insightful basis for the future psychoanalytic theory. He found the origin of all neurotic problems from his childhood, and confirmed it with the many patients. Surely it was evident that the background of his revolutionary findings was his own family. I studied the psycho-dynamics of his family including Freud and his family members with some references. Hence I concluded as follows : 1. Freud¡¯s neurosis was originated from early childhood psychic trauma. 2. He was very confused to the complex family structures in his childhood. 3. He was so frustrated and strongly jealous by successive births of his siblings. 4. He was very omnipotent megalomaniacally by his mother¡¯s overprotection. 5. He feared to separate from his mother, but marevelously stable after his father¡¯s death. And thereafter he and his mother lived together safely for a long time. 6. His calming down was due to the natural elimination of his father, which he was not responsible for. 7. His marital life was not fully happy, but peaceful because Martha did not intervene with mother-son bond. 8. He sublimated his own enourmous libidinal energy to the ambitious academic accomplishment. 9. His peculiar friendships revealed his early strong envious strivings with the very ambivalent attitude. 10. He wanted to stay with his daughter Anna instead of his wife. 11. Anna Freud identified with her father, but failed to identify with her mother. 12. His other family members were not troubled but simple . 13. There were specific Jewish like group cohesion in his family. 14. Finally he became a winner by the exclusive possession of mother, wife, and daughter against his father. 15. Nowadays his many descendants are indifferent to psychoanalysis unusually.
